After last year’s catastrophic events, bloggers of the world are keeping especially vigilant for any unusual signs of impending doom in the weeks leading up June 13th. It should come as a surprise to no one that this also happens to fall on what promises to be a very unlucky Friday.
Steve Wilson of My Elves are Different fame has set up a geographical registry to keep track of volunteer lookouts, should the improbable events of last year somehow recur. If you’re interested in telling the world what — if anything — happens on Friday, June 13th, put your pin in the BLITEOTW ’08 Frapper Map.
But honestly, what are the odds of apocalyptic lightning striking twice?

Yes! Can’t wait to see how this goes. Last year I had no idea what was happening, and got a little freaked out. It’ll be nice to be on the other side of things for once.
Steve did such a good job last year of keeping track off all the chaos, that if I do half as well, I’ll be happy!

I live in Japan. So, does that mean it starts on June 13th in Japan? Do Zombies respect the International Dateline? Where is GROUND ZERO?
Yep, you’ll be one of the first to experience the effect. Last year, it swept the globe at midnight local-time. I suspect ground zero is outer space!
Couple of questions:
Has it been confirmed that the theme is to be zombies again? I’m cool with that – you can’t keep the undead down – I just wanted to know for certain that the threat is indeed the dreaded reanimated corpses.
Also, aside from the map set up on MyElvesAreDifferent, is there a place to sign up? Should I point people in the direction of this site as well as MEAD?
The zombie comet — as some have called it — appears to be on an erratic but annual orbit with the sun, so the likelihood of another undead uprising is high. Currently, it seems the comet will be making a closer approach than last year, so expect even more chaos this time around.
The Frappr map is a good measure of interest, but I’ll be doing my best to track reports in the field with one or more posts throughout the 13th. Use pings, trackbacks, comments, emails, smoke signals, whatever will work.

I’m already expecting an outbreak of the undead on Friday 13th over on http://comic.matazone.co.uk . It looks likely that the cursed souls will be invading Oxford, UK. Great idea, let’s hope for an even bigger end of the world next year! 😉
