Meticulous Mythologies

Henning Ludvigsen

Fantasy art — by definition — depicts beings and settings that do not exist. This is what makes it “fantasy”, after all. Try to keep this in mind when perusing Henning Ludvigsen‘s fabulously detailed creations. No one would blame you if you thought they were real.

Ancient warrior women and futuristic cyborgs are rendered with equal precision, given form with the depth and clarity of a photograph. These works, however, aren’t limited to mere reality, and also ably capture a variety of subtle artistic impressions and otherworldly atmospheres. Perhaps these strange denizens were patient enough for a sitting with Mr. Ludvigsen?

The artist has also captured his mysterious subjects in a wide range of emotional states: from somber and serious, to downright silly. Whatever his methods, you’re certain to find Henning’s fantasy works at least as good as the real thing — if gargoyles and goddesses ever roamed our earth.
