Supernatural Realism

Torstein Nordstrand

A bearded man with round glasses examines glowing runes on a brick wall.
A slender elf woman with long brown hair.
A faceless, red-skinned figure clutches a large yellow book to its chest.

Where most would choose to look away, Torstein Nordstrand stares intently at the dark face of human nature, and diligently reports his findings with his atmospheric, frenetic phantasms.

Through Mr. Nordstrand’s works, we encounter seemingly average folk caught in a moment of supernatural suspense… almost trapped in fields of temporary unreality. Other magical moments have very little to do with the mundane world we share, casting a fleeting beam of hazy light on wholly unimagined scenes of vibrant, visceral figures and creatures.

Those who welcome an exploration of our inner worlds lurking just beneath the surface of this world — from the dark corners and unlit alleyways of the cities of man, to the deepest, untamed wilderness — will delight in Torstein’s unique talent for merging the two.
