I almost didn’t photograph this car. There were more visually interesting tags on the train, but as it began rolling, I felt the need to document my confusion with this particular collection. I saw the ADM logo, the stars of David, the bizarre title, the positive affirmations,  the crossed out “classic” tag…. Even now, still seems hard to really understand how many hands were at work here — which are standalone signatures, and which are commentaries on the others.

A small park in our neighborhood is next to a stream that’s somehow managed to survive among the landscaping and development. The bank was slippery, unpredictable and a little dangerous. Extra points for finding the corner I had to clone to get the framing right.

I once had a yellow piece of flair that proclaimed “Have a Day” with an iconic face that neither frowned or smiled. I like to think that — like the artist that painted these simple eyes and horizontal mouth in a vacant lot — I was helping to spread a little apathy in the world.
