In fact, it's to be expected. I can easily recreate a photo w/o tracing, color picking, etc. I find it hard to believe that a much more experienced artist can't do the same. Linda Bergkvist's work is nothing short of amazing - her visions, the use of color, and her compositions are at a Master level - and NONE that comes from photos.
